SAFETY FIRST

Engineered to exacting standards and built stronger with Hyundai’s very own advanced high strength steel. The Santa Fe delivers the highest levels of advanced active and passive safety technologies to ensure maximum protection for all passengers, achieving a 5-star ANCAP safety rating for frontal and side impact, the highest possible safety rating a vehicle can achieve.

As well as an impressive seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, its long list of innovative safety features includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and the Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC).

SANTAFE EX Features4cut AUS 234X230
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

You can never be sure what other drivers might do on the road, so the Santa Fe's Automatic Emergency Braking system activates the brakes if it detects sudden braking by another vehicle (Limited models only).

Child seat anchor points
Child seat anchor points

The Santa Fe is designed to keep Kiwi families as safe as possible, with tether child seat anchor points in the second row and ISOFIX child seat anchor points on second row outside seats.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Designed to help on wet and slippery roads, Vehicle Stability Management works with Electronic Stability Control to give the Santa Fe more stability, so you can drive with added confidence on tricky surfaces.

Reversing sensors and reversing camera
Reversing camera

For added peace of mind on all models, a reversing camera shows a colour image of what’s behind you.

Blind Spot Detection

Sometimes, when you look into your rearview and side mirrors you can miss other vehicles in your blind spots. Thanks to Blind Spot Detection technology, these areas are consistently monitored, so when another vehicle is present, you are warned in two ways; a warning symbol illuminates in the side mirrors, and there’s an audible alert if the indicator is used and another vehicle is in your blind spot (Limited models only).

DM Dimension Rear AUS 314x291
Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

It’s difficult to see vehicles approach from either the rear left or rear right when you’re reversing out of a driveway, so Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns you with an audible alert if a moving vehicle is detected while the Santa Fe is reversing (Limited models only).

SANTAFE MAIN 14 EX AUS 2013 1st 314x288
Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Changing lanes is an important maneuver, so when you use the Santa Fe’s indicators, Lane Change Assist gives a visual and audible alert if a vehicle is approaching quickly from behind. The steering wheel also vibrates to warn you of the potential hazard (Limited models only). If the Santa Fe drifts outside the lane without signalling, Lane Departure Warning system will alert the driver with a warning sound. (Elite & Limited models only)

Smart Park Assist System (SPAS)

The Santa Fe thinks of everything. To help with parking in tight spots, four ultrasonic sensors at the front and rear of the Santa Fe are automatically activated when you select reverse, giving an audible warning if and where objects are detected (Limited only). This system can also assist the driver to parallel and reverse park the vehicle by taking control of the steering while the driver manages the brake and accelerator.

Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC)
Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC)

A brand new safety feature, the Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) continuously analyses data such as road speed, throttle input and steering angle. It then distributes torque to any single wheel as required, providing improved lateral stability when cornering, and counteracting unintended over- and under-steer.

DM PNS Airbag GR Black trim 234x230
Seven SRS airbags

The Santa Fe also incorporates high levels of passenger safety with seven airbags: two advanced front airbags, two seat-mounted side-impact airbags and two side-curtain roof-mounted airbags that stretch all the way to the third row of seating. A driver knee airbag protects the knees of the driver in the event of a frontal impact and rollover sensors also feature that deploy side airbags in the event of a rollover.

SFSeries2 DHB
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC)

Hill-start Assist Control does exactly what it says on the tin, preventing backward roll on steep hills and giving you a smooth transition from whoa to go. When going down steep descents, the Downhill Brake Control helps control the brakes so you can keep your feet off the pedals and concentrate on where you’re heading.

Cornering lights
Cornering lights

Simple but very clever. When you flick the indicator on inside the car, an extra light from the Santa Fe’s foglights illuminates the space to the side you’re turning to, so you can see exactly where you’re heading.
